To avoid terrorist attacks directed at airtravel and due to the continuous growth in numbers of aggressive and violent passengers, preventative checks of passengers, luggage and freight/cargo are necessary. |

- With the support and equal treatment of passengers a maximum standard of security is guarantied.
- The security measures in force are nationally recognized standards set by the ministry of interior.
- The governing body in charge of security standards for airtravel is the Bavarian state Ministry for economics, transport, technology and infrastructure.
- The departement in charge of security standards for airtravel at Munich International Airport is the government of upper Bavaria, department for air security in southern Bavaria (Luftamt Südbayern). The SGM, which is responsible by order of the government, employees 1100 airsecurity - representatives. The employees are tasked with the responsibility of carrying out the security-checks as friendly as possible while enforcing the highest standards of security.
- The security-checks are financed by the air security fee, which is payed by each passenger.
